How’d You Do That?

Tiny Living in a Big House

It was a bit of work setting up our temporary kitchen and laundry, but it will prove to be a life saver during the second phase of our renovation. In what will eventually be our formal dining room, we re-purposed a short run of cabinets with a double sink from the upstairs kitchen, a fridge from the main floor kitchen, and brought in some stainless steel shelving and a small mobile island to act as our pantry and storage. We have a hot plate, a NuWave oven, a microwave and a pint sized TV for watching the Anthony Bourdain, while I still am able cook fabulous dinners to my heart’s content. We are going to make this work, and we will show you how.

We are going to be one of the “Work in Progress” homes on the 2018 Minneapolis St. Paul Home Tour in April. Folks will be able to walk through our two new bathrooms, and see the before and in-progress photos of these spaces. We will have on display some elevations and floor plans of the rest of our project as well. We will be on site to answer questions, talk about our methods and best practices, and provide DIYers with renovation and restoration advice.

The market is tight right now. Buyers are finding themselves in multiple offer situations several times over. If you are thinking of purchasing a home, maybe you too, are willing to live through a renovation like us. We should talk!
